  Jamaican cuisine is flavorful is an understatement. If you have not tried it yet, you are missing out on life :)
  
  Many dont have the luxury of eating home cooked Jamaican food every day as dishes take a long time to cook.
  
  The next best thing is eating at Donna's Restaurants, a fast casual restaurant with multiple locations. We like their Oxtail and Curry Chicken and Rice and Peas. Conveniently, they offer 3 sizes of small, medium and large for all their dishes at different price points. Some of their dishes start at $6+ such as small curry chicken, small jerk chicken and small brown stew chicken. They provide a decent portion and each dish includes rice and peas or white rice and vegetables. For medium and large, you can get a larger portion of meat. Jerk chicken did not have strong bold jerk flavor that we are used to.
  
  Donna's has lunch specials and they also serve breakfast like Ackee and Saltfish and Callaloo and Saltfish. They have kids meals such as French Toast breakfast and Mac and Cheese.

  This was me and my family's first time eating at Donna's Caribbean Restaurant. I had oxtails, Mac and cheese, potato salad, plantains and peas with rice. My son had the curry chicken, peas and rice with plantains. My husband had the jerk pork, peas and rice with plantains. The restaurant give you so much food, you will have food for almost 3 days. The food was delicious, the workers were pleasant and the restaurant was clean. It's great to tip the servers as well. I had the champagne cola for my drink once I ate enough. My family and I are mixed with Bahamian and Portuguese, so this was definitely a treat. It reminds me of my grandmom's food back when I was younger. We will definitely return and their are more than one location in South Florida. I shared photos as well on here.

  After hearing about this restaurant advertised so many times on 96.1fm (a Caribbean station), I couldn't wait to try the food there. There's a Donna's Caribbean restaurant located in Plantation, Sunrise, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, Coral Springs, and Margate, but the Pembroke Pines location is closer to me. When you enter the restaurant, you can see the large dining area that has plenty of booth and table seating for the customers. The area where you place your order is towards the back of the restaurant, and you may feel a bit cramped if there are a lot of people waiting in line for their order because the area is small.
  
  Donna's is open 7 days a week and offers breakfast, lunch, entrees, vegetarian dishes, kid's meal, side orders, and dessert. They also serve hot & cold beverages, D&G sodas, and nature way juices such as sorrel, coconut water, carrot juice, etc. All you can eat brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday at the Pembroke Pines and Lauderhill locations only from 8am - 2:30pm.
  
  I ordered the brown stew chicken lunch special which consisted of rice & peas, fried plantains, and salad. After receiving my food, I quickly sat at a table to eat. Oh man, it was delicious. The rice & peas was cooked to a soft consistency and had a bit of a sweet taste to it like it was cooked in coconut milk. The chicken was stewed nicely, tender, and full of flavor. The plantains was also fried nicely and the salad was freshly prepared with a light vinaigrette. Will surely be back again.

  I have come here twice and because of both visits my overall rating is a 3.
  
  My first visits rating was a 5. I had the escovitch fish and it was delicious. The fish literally fell off of the bone. I had never had fish cooked like that before. I'd love to get that recipe! lol. The cabbage that I ordered was delicious. It was nice and flavorful. Everything was just superb.
  
  I came yesterday was not impressed at all. I wanted the jerk shrimp but at 1:30 in the afternoon, they were already out of jerk. Considering that their lunch menu started at 11, I am going to go out on a limb and say that it was never available yesterday. So since they didn't have jerk, I ended up getting the brown stew chicken because I wanted something different. Besides the person I went with got fish, so if I wanted some I could've simply got some of his. *cheshire cat grin*. The brown stew chicken was super sweet. Like I could literally taste the sugar in it and it was too much for my liking. I am very finicky about things being sweet that I feel shouldn't be sweet. And some of you are thinking "oh that's the norm amongst jamaican/caribbean food". It isn't, I've been to plenty and they aren't heavy handed with the sugar. Perhaps yesterday was an off day. The cabbage even lacked flavor. There was no salt or seasoning in it, in no way. I was not happy yesterday.
  
  I would definitely give this place a try again, if for nothing more than to just get what I usually get and hopefully one day try the jerk shrimp and chicken.
